DARKROOM is a short film about a War Photographer in a dark-room, developing a photo she took in Belfast.  As the ghost-like image slowly appears on the print, she is forced to confront a memory she would rather forget.  The film centres on this memory.

1985 Belfast. After hearing an argument in the distance, the Photographer discovers a heated dispute between two men escalating into sectarian violence.  Should she try to step in and intervene or stand back and take the picture for the world to see?

Observing from a safe distance, she peers closer with her camera lens.  Why is one man threatening the other? With each click of the shutter she tries to assess the situation.  Is either man carrying a weapon?

Her camera then rests on a young woman, Keira, forcing herself between the two men. Keira struggles to hold back her father, Patrick.  Keira then looks up and stares silently at the Photographer, urging her to do something.  The Photographer lowers her camera, looks away and takes a deep breath. Should she step in and try to intervene or stay back and take the picture for the world to see?
